Castro holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Arts) from Egerton University and a Certificate in Public procurement from Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply UK.
He brings to the Board 19 years experience from the Humanitarian world with core areas of expertise including operational leadership advisory and technical support in the areas of strategic supply chain & administration management, planning, security donor compliance, risk management, knowledge management, partner management, and fundraising.
Working with development and humanitarian focused INGOs like Merlin, Save the Children, Action Contre la Faim (ACF) Danish Refugee Council (DRC)- at strategic management levels have allowed Castro to develop and strengthen skills and expertise in designing, managing, coordinating and leadership of Supply Chain operational functions working with varied tools, strategies to support the implementation of Regional/Country strategic objectives and specifically support managers/projects/partners to manage project cycle of development and humanitarian actions funded by different funding sources within the organizations. Providing training to both management and business support staff to create good business strategies and environment in the organization to nurture talent, and drive to optimal performance in Supply Chain Operations departments.
Through active service in the development world as a key member of senior leadership and working in some of the world’s complex and highly volatile contexts Castro holds values not only important to his profession but also non-negotiable in the organizations he has been privileged to work with.
